Scholarships:

 

      'Missy's Award'  is given to high school aged individuals (grades 9-12) who are members of VJGA and have played in at least 5 VJGA events within the qualifying year. One male and one female golfer will be awarded $500 scholarship to use towards entry fee's for VJGA golf tournament or related VJGA events. Students must use the money during the year or the unused funds will go back into the scholarship pool.

 

To submit an essay for the scholarship, please follow the guidlines below;

 1. The student must write an essay on the topic of "Who is the most influential person in your life and why".

 2. Essay must be two to three typewritten, double-spaced pages, on 8.5 X 11" paper with 1" margins. The font must be 11 or 12 point. The essay cannot be more than 1500 words.

 3. Essays must be original.   The essay must have an original title and essay topic may not be used the title.

 4. A separate cover sheet with the name, home address, telephone number, e-mail address, high school name, and the title of the essay must be included.

 5. The student's name should not appear on the essay itself (to permit blind judging). It is reccommended that the title be included in the header or footer on each page of the essay.

 This scholarship is given by Eric & Gretchen Petersen in honor of Eric's Sister Melissa Petersen who was a long time member of VJGA and who lost her battle with epilepsy right aftert graduating from UCSB.   Eric  and Gretchen are the judges of the essays.
