Valley Junior Golf Association

About Us

The Valley Junior Golf Association (VJGA) is a 501 (3)(c) non-profit organization dedicated to young people and golf. VJGA was formed in 1987 to promote the traditions of golf and encourage competition and camaraderie among junior golfers.

VJGA was created to educate young people about the game of golf, the skill, self-discipline, the competition and the joy of the game. We are happy to provide golf tournaments, instruction, college information classes, rules, fitness classes, and life skill classes to juniors between the ages of 4-18. It is our sincere hope that by participating in VJGA, members develop skills and memorable experiences that will last a lifetime.

Statistics prove that 85% of juniors who participate in junior golf attend and graduate college. VJGA is proud of our 'life-skills' curriculum entitled "18 Holes Fore Success". Our program addresses the learning and preparation process of the game of golf and the game of life. VJGA is proud of our record of success with the juniors. VJGA boasts PGA & LPGA tour Players, Rickie Fowler, Brendan Steele, John Mallinger, Sydnee Michaels, while praising former members who have had success in business and life. Mark Bland, Tournament Operations and Rules Committee

Coach Mark Bland began his interest in golf as a young boy.  His father, Dick, was an excellent golfer who won the St. Paul Amateur Golf Tournament at age 19.  Expressing his interest in golf, Coach Mark’s father told him the best way to learn the game was to caddy. Coach Mark would caddy for his father and uncle. Coach Mark would play with friends who were members of the high school golf team. They encouraged him to try out for the high school team but Mark had to work too often.  Coach Mark soon enlisted in the military and would play golf whenever and wherever he could.  Coach Mark has played golf in Italy, Spain, Japan, and The Philippines. After retiring from the military, Mark began his golf career.

He attended the Professional Golfer’s Career College (PGCC). Coach Mark started working at Temecula Creek Inn as an Assistant Professional. He then worked at Quail Ranch GC as Asst. General Manager, at Oak Valley GC as First Asst. Prof., then went to SCGA Members Club, and then returned to PGCC as Admissions Director.  Coach Mark also taught business classes at PGCC.  Coach Mark then became General Manager at The Legends GC in Temecula.  Throughout his 20 year career in golf, he has worked with junior programs, women’s golf programs, and professional tournaments including PGA Q School at both Oak Valley and SCGA Members Club.  Coach Mark is totally supportive of golf’s efforts to promote youth golf. His two sons, James & Nick both played golf and Nick is the Tournament Director for the Golden State Tour.  Mark continues to help recruit members for VJGA and recently signed up his Grandson, Jack with VJGA.
